Dear Sirs - we came to hear Alexander O'Neil last night and unfortunately didn't - hear him!.
First I would like to say that the table we booked was great, staff brilliant, food great, atmosphere great.
The problem arose when Alexander came on to sing. the band were incredibly loud with their mics clear turned up to full volume, so much so that every beat of the drum was felt, after a couple of songs Alexander paused and asked repeatedly for his mic to be turned up, his backing singer asked for theirs to be turned down and Alexander's to be turned up, but the technical guys couldn't do anything. So after 50 minutes Alexander left the stage - it felt like half way through a song - no encore and no hint of him coming back, he had clearly had enough. We were left feeling short changed.
We approached the manager and told him how we felt and he said he couldn't do anything as Alexander hadn't turned up for a sound check - but this was not our problem. He also said it was fine "last night" - whilst separately the other staff had told us that is was exactly the same last night.
I was disappointed that such a famous venue could not solve the problem and when they couldn't they failed to deal with our complaint. We were offered a free round of drinks and finally the manager took £30 off our bill but that was not the point. We would have been much happier with a clear apology and a promise that they would go back to the booking agent and ensure that he felt how unhappy people were.
Sorry to give such a bad review - I never complain - but just had to
Paul
