If you’re planning on getting married next year in 2027, you’re probably starting to think about your wedding reception. The décor, the food, the entertainment… If you’re in need of some inspiration, keep reading as we take you through a handful of wedding reception trends set to continue into 2027!
Personality over perfection
We’ve seen personalisation continue to grow in popularity throughout 2026 and it’s a trend that’s not going anywhere. Wedding couples are consistently looking for areas of their wedding where they can let their personalities shine through. This might not always lead to cohesive décor or theme, but if it represents the couple then it’s a win! Examples range from personalising their wedding cake to making their hobbies part of the day; choreographed dance routines, live performances and bespoke table centrepieces.

Experiences are key
Weddings, in some cases, have started to turn away from the usual traditions and are instead curated around experiences that feel authentic to the wedding couple and memorable for their guests. Experiences include interactive food & beverage options, for example sharing/family-style wedding breakfasts, food trucks for the reception and signature cocktails; live entertainment including party bands, magicians and live painting/drawing; and fun photo opportunities, whether that’s letting your guests go wild with a Polaroid camera or hiring a 360 photobooth.

It’s all about the whimsy
As we mentioned beforehand, wedding couples are making the concerted effort to move away from typical traditions, and in the same way make their own. Weddings are becoming less serious occasions, with couples introducing whimsical, playful details into their wedding day. These details create a fun atmosphere and also let the couples personalities shine through. Details include handwritten menus and place cards, fun table décor and favours.

Move over pastels and cool neutrals; warm, bold colours are here
Weddings over the years have quite commonly either been neutral in colour or a variation of pastel pink, sage green and Bridgerton blue. But, we’re pleased to announce warm, bold colours are starting to make more of an appearance in 2027. Colour palettes include butter yellow, terracotta, tomato red, rust and burnt sienna. These colour choices are yet another nod to couples opting for more contemporary, fun choices over what has typically been very neutral.
