With over 11 years of experience here at The Jazz Cafe, it’s safe to say we know how to throw a party – and a good one at that!
Here are our 3 top tips for throwing an amazing party that your guests will be talking about for years to come. These tips can be used for birthday parties, anniversaries, or just about any event.
1. The Food & Drink
Some will say that the food doesn’t matter, but we know as party hosts that the food really does matter. The quality of the food is of course important, as people are more likely to remember a bad experience (unfortunately) than a good one, but what you choose to serve is equally as important.
If you are throwing a formal event, then it would be expected that a 3-course sit down meal is served, whereas if you’re having something more informal, a finger buffet would be perfect. It’s also worth noting what your dress code is, for example if it is black tie, it could then be messy to serve finger food to your guests.
If you have a theme for your party, then why not try and include your food and drink into it? For example, if your party is all about summer, why not have an outdoor BBQ and fun, summery cocktails or pitchers of Pimms?
2. The Entertainment
Once everyone has eaten, it’s time for the party to really start! Most parties will have at least a DJ, however if you have the budget you might like to consider a band, a tribute act, or even a comedian depending on your event.
Again, it’s important to choose entertainment that fits the theme for the evening, as this will create the right atmosphere for your guests. If you’re throwing your own birthday party, be sure to tell the DJ what your favourite tracks are, or what genre of music you like, so that they’ll play exactly what you like and want to dance to.
3. The Décor
Once you’ve chosen where you’re going to host your party, make sure you have some décor items to make the event truly your own.
We’re not suggesting to go all out like you would for a wedding, but think about any table centrepieces you might want, if you want chair covers or sashes, or any photo backdrops or welcome signs. Large balloon pieces are quite popular at the moment, either on their own or paired together with a welcome sign or table plan. If you have a theme, choosing your décor carefully is where it will all come together!
