Romantic Events: Vow Renewals, Anniversaries & Engagement Parties

It’s officially the month of love! So, we thought it was the ideal time to talk about romantic events that aren’t necessarily weddings!

Vow Renewals

There are lots of reasons why couples choose to renew their vows. They may simply want to celebrate their wedding all over again, there may be people who couldn’t make the wedding the first time around or they may have been through a turbulent time and are looking for a fresh start.

As a vow renewal ceremony is not constrained by legality, it means you can have your ceremony wherever you wish – even with us here at The Jazz Cafe! After the ceremony, much like a wedding, couples tend to choose to host a reception with their guests. This could be an intimate dinner, or even as indulgent as a full-on wedding breakfast. The beauty of a vow renewal is that it it totally down to you and how you would like to celebrate the day so it can be as personalised as you like.

Anniversaries

A special anniversary deserves a special celebration! Wedding anniversaries, especially those that have stood the test of time, should most definitely be recognised with your nearest and dearest. Over the years, we have seen a number of wonderful anniversary parties ranging from 25th (Silver), 50th (Gold) and even 60th (Diamond) and each one was a joy to host. It may be that a party is too much, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still celebrate the occasion. A sit-down lunch at a venue is a lovely alternative, and is most definitely just as special.

Some nice touches to celebrate your wedding anniversary could include photos from your wedding day and married life since you tied the knot. You could choose to have floral arrangements as your table centrepieces that are the same for similar to what you had on your wedding day. And don’t forget to have a cake!

Engagement Parties

A really wonderful way to celebrate your new engagement is to throw a party for all of your loved ones. This is the ideal opportunity for each side of the family to meet each other and break the ice before the wedding. It also offers others the chance to get to know one another and of course kicks off the wedding planning process.

One of the best things about an engagement party is that it can be as formal or informal as you like. Many couples prefer a more informal celebration with a buffet, drinks and minimal décor, but the choice is really up to you. It might be nice to have a photo opportunity or backdrop for photos so that you’ll have photos that you can look back on after the wedding. Couples may choose to have some games at the party testing each other’s knowledge of their significant other or crowd participation games where everyone gets involved – they can be a great source of light entertainment. If you’re getting married abroad, you could theme your engagement party to the country that you’re tying the knot in!
