The Jazz Cafe's Comedy Night, long awaited and here to fill your belly with fun, laughs and a range of tasty food too! The Jazz Cafe lays host to this brilliant show with 4 fantastic comedians included in the ticket price of £9, with a variety of dining options available on the evening. Your 4 comedians offer a great blend of comedy for newcomers and comedy fans alike so there's fun to be had for all, and this month they are: Mike Wozniak Effortlessly assured and constantly creative, Mike Wozniak stormed 2008, earning himself a clutch of accolades including the prestigious If.Comedy Best Newcomer nomination, and winning both the Time Out Act of the Year, and the Amused Moose Laugh Off 2008. The success continued with yet another nomination for Chortle Best Newcomer 2009. He more recently won a ‘Best New Show’ award at the 2010 Leicester Comedy Festival. “This guy just could be the new comedy hero” - Time Out. Ali Cook Ali has written and starred in seven television series for ITV, Channel 4, Five and Sky One. He is best known for his comedy series: Dirty Tricks (Channel 4) and Monkey Magic (Five). Both series were nominated for The Golden Rose of Montreaux and The British Comedy Awards. His sell-out debut show in Edinburgh mixed cutting edge magic effects with stand up and received four star reviews. Promoter Mick Perrin brought the show to the west end as part of The Big Joke Comedy Festival. Again, the show sold out. **** "...his manic charm means that you will be instantly drawn in. As a stand up performer, Ray appeared on the latest series of Russell Howard’s Good News for the BBC, he has also been seen on ‘Harry Hill’s TV Burp’, ‘Skins’ and ‘Dr Who’. As a highly sought after warm up act, amongst many other shows, Ray has most recently provided regular warm up for Russell Howard’s Good News, The IT Crowd, Friday Night with Jonathan Ross and The Graham Norton Show. It was as part of the highly successful Big and Daft comedy trio that Ray first came to prominence. The trio enjoyed their own BBC London radio series, three consecutive years of sell-out Edinburgh Festival shows and their own series for the BBC’s PlayUK, ‘Terrorville’. After performing in the Comedy Zone at the 2002 Edinburgh Festival Ray went on to take two solo shows to Edinburgh. “Hecklers be warned – take Peacock on and you might just spark off the second War of the Roses.” – The Metro. Jim Tavare Jim has starred in numerous TV shows and films including his own comedy sketch series The Jim Tavaré Show. He co-wrote the 13- part series with Ricky Gervais who also starred. Jim has performed three times at The Royal Variety Command Performance. At special request, he performed at HRH Prince Charles private Christmas party. Jim is renowned for his proud title of being Prince Charles’ favourite comedian. In 2001 Steve Coogan’s production company invited Jim to be part of The Sketch Show team for ITV in the UK. The first series, packed with over 30 sketches, went on to win a prestigious BAFTA Award. There followed a major acting role as Tom the Innkeeper in ‘Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban’. In the USA, Jim featured in Season 6 of NBC’s Last Comic Standing where he was voted the 4th finalist. This made him the first ever International act to make it through to the final show. He went on to perform a 63 date US national tour with the other 4 finalists. He has since established a film career in the USA.
